Hemis to Jugtakh

Duration: 9 Nights / 10 Days

Description: This trek begins from Hemis monastery, after 20 minutes drive from Leh. It enters Markha valley after crossing Kongmaru La 5135m, after a night halt at beautiful pasture Land of Markha valley with Yaks, Sheep's and Pashmina Goats you enter Rupsho valley. It crosses a village and several passes before you finish your trek at Juktakh at Leh Manali highway. From here you can drive towards Manali via Lahaul or drive back to Leh. Rest for a day in Manali and drive Delhi to fly back home.

Day 01: LEH - HEMIS - SHANG SUMDO.
After breakfast visit Hemis monastery the richest Gompa of Ladakh, from there we start to Shang Samdu, go down towards Martselang, then go up the valley which is fairly narrow in place, then walk along river-bed as far as Shang Samdu. Overnight in Camp. Trek time: 4 hours.

Day 02: SHANG SUMDO - KONGMARU-LA BASE.
After breakfast again start for Kongmaru-la base. Take a path along the slops through the red rock, then back down to the river. From Chu Skurmo the trek leads into gorges to base of Kongmaru-la. Trek time: 5 hours.

Day 03: KONGMARU LA BASE - LANGTHANG CHU.
From camp, steep ascend as far as the Kongmaru-la pass (5150 Mts.). From the pass beautiful view of the northern face of KANGYSATSE (6400 Mts.).Easy descent to the summer pasture of Nimaling. From here pass the ridge behind the camp site, go down into small valley then pass another ridge and go along the rock as far as Konka Wangpo continue to Langthang Chu. Overnight in Camp. Trek time: 7 hours.

Day 04: LANGTHANG CHU – SORRA.
Go up this broad valley from camp, cross a Large stream and a moraine wall, carry on until the valley divides. Take right hand valley as far as the top of Zalong Karpo-la (5100 Mts.). Overnight in camp. Trek time: 6 hours.

Day 05: SORRA – DAT.
A little way beyond the last house go into wonderful woody gorge cross the Sorra river go up to the Dat river. This two rivers flow into Zanskar river further on leave a valley go into Sorra traverse valley. The valley becomes very broad. Several manes (prayer wall) and Chorten on the way. Trek time: 6 hours.

Day 06: DAT – LUNGMOCHE.
From Dat go towards the valley Dango you follow the trek upto Yar-la (4960 Mts.) fantastic view from the pass of RUPSHU. Easy descent to the summer village of Lungmoche. Overnight in Camp. Trek time: 5 hours.

Day 07: LUNGMOCHE – LUN.
From here go down along the river bank, follow this valley. The small village of SANGTHA and continue to ZAKBU, nomads live in this area. Overnight in Camp. Trek time: 6 hours.

Day 08: LUN – TAKH.
From LUN along the left bank for half an hour, then take a good path which leaves the river upto the left. You will come across a beautiful plateau and pass all the valley and cross Morang-la (5300 Mts.). The long descent towards Takh. Overnight in Camp. Trek time: 6 hours.

Day 09: TAKH - LEH OR MANALI.
From Takh you can drive by jeep to Leh or Manali.
